Everything in this box began as a morning around San Miniato: the Savini family, their dogs, four generations of knowing where to dig. The season lasts weeks; these five jars are how it reaches a year.

There is an order to it. The sauce makes tonight's pasta in ten minutes. The salt and the white truffle oil finish plates for months. The sliced summer truffle is the jar you can see it in. The honey ends meals — over cheese, by the drop.

The rule at the table is the hunter's own: small amounts, at the end, after the heat. This is the box for the serious cook, and for the milestones that deserve a story.
