Arancione Blondy
The orange one: mellow, sweet, the colour of carotene.
Blondy is the farm's orange tomato, jarred whole in its own juice. The colour is not a trick of the label — orange varieties carry the same pigment as carrots, and with it a gentler acidity and a rounder sweetness than red.
It behaves like sunshine in the pan: an orange pomodoro over pasta, a golden base under grilled vegetables or fish, a sauce that surprises people who thought they knew what tomato tastes like.
Of the trio — Trilly red, Blondy orange, Dolly yellow — this is the middle voice: softer than red, deeper than yellow.
